| Breaking News | | 5-Hit Game for Wilson Wednesday, April 15th, 1981: It was a good day for the Orioles at Fenway Park II as they clipped the Boston Red Sox 8-3. It was tremendous day for Mookie Wilson, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 6 barrage.
The Baltimore center fielder told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
Mookie Wilson tripled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Currently Wilson is hitting .333 and has collected no home runs, 1 RBIs and scored 4 times, while playing in 5 games. | | Orioles Shut out by Butcher Monday, April 13th, 1981: John Butcher of the Boston Red Sox not only shut out Baltimore 6-0, he made it look effortless. Butcher stopped them on 4 hits to help the Red Sox cruise past the Orioles. His performance included 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.
